To succeed in any scientific career, it is critical that postdoctoral fellows be able to communicate effectively in English. The postdoctoral community at Einstein is a highly diverse and truly international group, with fellows representing more than 35 countries.
Because English is not the first language of many of our postdocs, the Belfer Institute and the division of graduate studies offer instruction in English conversation/grammar and writing. Courses are taught in conjunction with the English as a Second Language Institute at nearby Lehman College, part of the City University of New York. ESL instruction for postdoctoral fellows is fully subsidized by the Belfer Institute.
