Dr. Lionel Wininger is an Attending Psychologist in the Moses Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Department (AOPD) at Montefiore Medical Center, and the Team Leader for OnTrackNY, a multidisciplinary mental health treatment program for teenagers and young adults with early psychosis. He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from LIU-Brooklyn after graduating from Brandeis University with a B.A. in psychology. Dr. Wininger completed his predoctoral clinical internship at NYU-Bellevue Hospital Center, including rotations in adult inpatient psychiatry, Child-CPEP, and the Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture. He also completed a clinical externship with the Bellevue Hospital Forensic Inpatient Psychiatry Service. Prior to and during his graduate training, Dr. Wininger worked at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.
Dr. Wininger was a Teaching Fellow at Long Island University for undergraduate courses in Developmental Psychology and Social Psychology, and has lectured to Montefiore psychiatry residents and psychology interns on various topics including psychosis, shared decision making, and personality disorders. He provides clinical supervision to trainees and helped form the OnTrackNY elective rotation.
