Dr. Kanevsky is the Director of Firm 2. She studied Radio/TV/Film at Northwestern University before moving to New York and attending the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After receiving her MD degree, she stayed at Mount Sinai to complete Internal Medicine residency. She has worked as a teaching hospitalist since finishing residency, initially at the Weiler campus of Montefiore and later at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, where she also chaired the Medicine Quality Improvement Committee. She was recruited to rejoin Montefiore faculty as an Associate Program Director and Firm 2 Director in 2014. Since then, she has been responsible for the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives in the residency program. Her academic interests are in palliative care, quality improvement, and resident education, and she has presented her work regionally and nationally. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. When not at the hospital, she can usually be seen picnicking in Prospect Park with her 3 kids and a dog or hiking in the Hudson Valley.
