Firm 1

Anand Jagannath
Anand grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC, completed a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute before working in medical product development at Gore Medical. He attended graduate school at Northwestern before switching to medicine, attending Tufts University Medical School. He is known for his medical curiosity, love of teaching, and being a team player and leader. Outside the hospital, Anand can be found playing his violin, cooking, running/hiking, and playing basketball. Anand is interested in medical education and plans a career in academic general medicine.

Marshall Yuan 

Marshall was born in China, but grew up in Edmonton, Canada. New York is now his second home, after having graduated from Cornell University and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Marshall chose Montefiore for its strong clinical training and its dedication to serving the Bronx community. When not in the hospital, Marshall enjoys travel, photography, basketball, and football. He is interested in pulmonary and critical care medicine, particularly effective resource utilization.;

Peter Vlismas 

Pete grew up in a large, multigenerational family in Brooklyn. He completed his undergraduate degree at New York Institute of Technology in Life Sciences and earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College. Outside of medicine, his interests include watching/playing sports and traveling. Pete is looking forward to honing his teaching and clinical skills during Chief year and is interested in pursuing a career in cardiology.


Mathew Kladney 

Mat was born in Reno, Nevada, received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from UC Irvine, and his MD from UCSF almost 10 years later. In between Mat worked as a chemistry tutor, bartender, MCAT tutor, homeless outreach worker and health educator. Additionally, he distributed naloxone to heroin users and developed a clinic-based distribution system for chronic pain patients. Mat is known for his excellent teaching and academic approach to clinical questions and problems. Mat enjoys playing soccer, surfing, reading graphic novels, and knitting. He is interested in pursuing a career in academic general medicine in a public health system.

Jamie Mersten 

Jamie is a native New Yorker. She attended Barnard College of Columbia University in NY, earning her bachelor's degree in Behavioral Neuroscience. Subsequently, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Scleroderma Center at HSS; her involvement in this program solidified her desire to become a clinician. Jamie received her medical degree from AECOM and continues to have an interest in rheumatology, as well as geriatrics and palliative care. She is very excited to embark on a journey to become a clinician-educator.;
