Primary Care & Social Internal Medicine Residency

Residency Training

"I was drawn to Montefiore because of its mission to serve the underserved and its philosophy of social justice. I was impressed by how this culture permeated throughout the program, as well as by the commitment the program showed to its residents." more

-Viraj Patel, MD
Program Graduate and Core Faculty

The Einstein-Montefiore Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine program prepares general internists to provide care for underserved populations. Our dedicated, energetic, passionate residents bring diverse backgrounds, professional and personal interests, and experiences, and go on to pursue careers as leading primary care clinicians, medical educators, program administrators, researchers, and advocates. (Program Graduates)

Our innovative, patient-based, learner-centered program provides comprehensive inpatient and ambulatory medicine training, with focused experience in psychosocial medicine, clinical epidemiology and reasoning, community-oriented primary care, global health, and specialty clinics for patients with inadequate access to care (i.e. new immigrants, recently incarcerated persons, and refugees).

"Monte is a place that will change anyone for the better."
