Gruss Magnetic Resonance Research Center

Overview

The Newly Expanded, Renovated MRRC

The Gruss Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC) is a 19,000-square-foot facility on the main (Resnick) campus of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.  The MRRC, first established in 2000 with a generous gift from the Gruss-Lipper Foundation, has recently been upgraded and outfitted with the most state-of-the-art imaging equipment, including the first Philips 3T TX MRI system to be installed in the United States, a completely renovated Varian 9.4T MRI magnet for animal imaging, and brand-new computing infrastructure for faculty, staff, students, and visiting researchers.

Our faculty and staff specialize in all aspects of MR modalities, including functional and structural MRI, diffusion tensor imaging and tractography, MR spectroscopy, chemical shift imaging, and arteriography, and we are currently expanding our research collaborations with investigators in other Einstein departments and the Montefiore Medical Center.

As of Monday, June 13 2016, the MRRC will be using EPIC for all patient and subject registration.
Your research Subjects cannot be scanned unless they are registered in EPIC.
You or your research coordinator should be trained on the use of EPIC, and should request access to EPIC through the Einstein Portal.

  • Your subjects must be registered in EPIC prior to your MRI visit.
  • If you do not have access yet to EPIC, registration can be accomplished by bringing the information on the attached form to the MRRC prior to your scheduled MRI time.
  • The form contains the minimally necessary information required to register your subject in EPIC
  • We suggest that you do this well before the scheduled MRI visit.
  • Note that this form is informational only , and should be handled with care to insure compliance with IRB processes.

If you plan to have MRRC staff register the subject at the time of the visit, you MUST ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES PRIOR to your scheduled MRI time.

Failure to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled MRI time could result in loss of your scheduled time, as registration into EPIC is time consuming. You will be required to pay for any cancellation that arises due to noncompliance with the above requirements.

Our Receptionist will be able to help you register your subject in EPIC ONLY if you arrive early enough.

NOTE: SCHEDULING for an MRI visit remains the same as always – you must call the MRRC (718 430 3390) or email the MRRC at mrrc3t@eisntein.yu.edu and request the MRI slot. As always, availability of the 3T MRI can be ascertained by checking the 3T Calendar: 3T Magnet Calendar

If you register your subjects prior to the visit, you may create an ORDER for the MRI in Epic, but do NOT schedule the MRI. Scheduling times and calendars in Epic are INVALID for research studies, which MUST be scheduled by contacting the MRRC as above.

Thank you,

The MRRC Team
