Pilot Grants

Pilot Grant for Institute for Clinical & Translational Research

Catalytic Seed Grants

Pilot Grant Deadline Deadline: December 31, 2016

We invite applications from Einstein faculty members seeking seed funding to provide preliminary data for the development of extramural grant applications. For full details, view the Catalytic Seed Grants document.

Awards of up to $5,000 will be provided to faculty investigators who require new data to generate novel hypotheses. Funds must be used for projects that propose using Einstein Shared Facilities, particularly ICTR cores.

Applications must be planned in consultation with the director(s) of the core service(s) requested, who will help develop and approve the requested budget. Funds may not be used to purchase equipment or for salary support. Projects supported under this program must be clinical or translational in design or implementation.

Applications for seed funding may fall into one of four categories (priority for funding will be given to the first three as they are key areas of ICTR and institutional investments):

  1. Experimental therapeutics (applicants should consult with Dr. Peng Wu (peng.wu@einstein.yu.edu), the Chemical Biology Core scientific director, to develop the proposal and budget)
  2. Patient-centered outcomes research utilizing the Montefiore health information systems (applicants should consult with Dr. Parsa Mirhaji (parsa.mirhaji@einstein.yu.edu), director of clinical research informatics, to develop the proposal and budget)
  3. Pediatric determinants of adult health (applicants should consult with Dr. Frederick Kaskel (frederick.kaskel@einstein.yu.edu), CTSA core director for child heath research, to develop the proposal and budget)
  4. Other Investigator-initiated proposals: areas of clinical/translational investigation that propose use of cores and shared facilities (applicants must work with the respective core / shared facility to develop their budget, www.einstein.yu.edu/research/shared-facilities/)

All applications must be submitted electronically https://www.einstein.yu.edu/centers/ictr/. Requests will be considered as they are received, and will be reviewed within 2-3 weeks of submission by the ICTR Executive Committee. Funding decisions will not be accompanied by written reviews.
