Job Title:

Postdoctoral Position 2018: Neurobiology and Treatment of Lysosomal Diseases

Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Department of Neuroscience at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine , Bronx, NY.

The Sidney Weisner Laboratory of Genetic Neurological Diseases in the Rose F. Kennedy Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is actively seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow interested in the pathogenesis and treatment of lysosomal diseases.  The successful applicant will join the director of this laboratory, Dr. Steve Walkley, and a dedicated research group focused on understanding and treating lysosomal disorders.  The lab is broadly focused on understanding the effects of altered lysosomal function on mTOR, TFEB and related signaling pathways, on autophagy and endocytic processing, and on growth factor signaling.  Examples of diseases of focus include Niemann-Pick types A and C, GM1 and GM2 (Sandhoff) gangliosidoses, MPS IIIA disease, late infantile and juvenile Batten diseases (CLN2, CLN3), and mucolipidosis type IV.  Therapeutic approaches to such disorders are vigorously pursued in parallel with studies on pathogenesis.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., or equivalent degree.  A record of publications from PhD or prior postdoctoral training work is anticipated and prior training in neuroscience is preferred.

To apply, please email your CV and a short cover letter summarizing your experience, along with the contact information of three references to steve.walkley@einstein.yu.edu.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an equal opportunity employer committed to workforce diversity.
