Job Title:

Postdoctoral Position 2017: Molecular Genetics of DNA Replication and Repair of the Mammalian Genome

Job Description:

An exciting postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Carl L. Schildkraut at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York:  Current projects in the lab broadly focus on studying how fragile genomic regions (example: telomeres, rare fragile sites, common fragile sites) are replicated.  In particular, we are interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms and cellular pathways that protect these fragile sites to facilitate error-free replication, to avoid genomic instability and cancer.  Projects include using super resolution microscopy at previously unattainable resolution to study DNA replication in living cells.

The position offers excellent opportunities for publications and career development.  The Cell Biology Department at Einstein provides an excellent research environment with stimulating faculty with a strong interest in interacting with and supporting young scientists:  Einstein is in a pleasant residential area, and the laboratory has long-term NIH support.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in basic science research with translational potential.  Applicants must be PhD or MD/PhD graduates in cell biology, molecular biology, cancer biology, molecular genetics, developmental biology or related fields.  A track record of peer-reviewed publications is required.  Prior experience in DNA replication and repair is preferred.  Background in at least one (or more) of the following:  DNA replication and repair, ChlP-seq analysis or Crispr/Cas9 genome editing, is strongly desired.

Interested applicants should send a CV with the names of three references, a brief statement that describes past accomplishments, future research interests and career goals, and a copy of your most recent publication in a single PDF file to:

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an equal opportunity employer committed to workforce diversity.
