Job Title:

Postdoctoral Position in Biochemistry and Immunology

Job Description:

The laboratory of Steven Almo at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center is seeking highly motivated and innovative postdoctoral scientists interested in the development and application of novel immunotherapies to treat malignancies, autoimmune diseases and infectious diseases, and cutting-edge approaches for the discovery of new receptor-ligand interactions to provide new therapeutic targets.  This work leverages a unique platform for clonal-specific T cell modulation, which allows for the selective targeting of disease relevant T cells, as well as high-throughput screening capabilities for receptor-ligand de-orphaning.  These strategies significantly enhance the therapeutic window and reduce undesired side effects associated with systemic immune modulation.  This work will be conducted within the Department of Biochemistry and the Albert Einstein Macromolecular Therapeutics Department Facility, which houses automation and infrastructure for high-throughput prokaryotic and eukaryotic protein production, receptor-ligand de-orphaning, functional discovery and structural biology.

The Einstein/Montefiore Partnership possesses an outstanding research faculty and enjoys an exceptionally collegial and collaborative environment.  The Department of Biochemistry has a 50+ year history of conducting cutting-edge research in diverse areas of biochemistry, enzymology, structural biology and molecular biology, with strong ties to other basic science departments and institutes at Einstein, and growing collaborations with clinical departments at Montefiore Medical Center, which affords considerable opportunities for clinical translation.

Applicants must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, with a track record of research excellence, and expertise in protein expression, protein chemistry and cellular immunology.  Experience with preclinical animal models is desirable, but not essential.  Qualified applicants should submit a coveer letter, curriculum vitae, and a brief summary of research accomplishments and goals, in a single PDF document, to:   Applicants should also arrange to have three letters of reference sent directly to this email address.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an equal opportunity employer committed to workforce diversity.
