Job Title:

Postdoctoral Position in Cell Competition

Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.

Cell competition recognizes and eliminates abnormal cells during development and is thought to occur in aging and in cancer (Mol Cell Oncol 3:e1029065; Trends Cell Biol 10:776-788;; Annu Rev Cell Develop Biol 32:411-439).  Our group has identified genes involved in cell competition by means of genetic screens in Drosophila.  A position is available to participate in the characterization of these genes and their functions at the molecular and cellular levels in order to better understand the mechanisms and functional contributions of the process of cell competition.  The successful candidate will employ genetic, molecular genetic, and biochemical approaches to identify and characterize mechanisms that recognize and eliminate cells with imbalances in ribosomal proteins.

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated with a PhD or equivalent.  Experience in molecular genetics, live imaging of tissues, global analysis of gene expression, or in Drosophila or yeast genetics may be an advantage.

Albert Einstein College of Medicine is located in a residential suburb of New York City.   Appointees will be eilgible for postdoctoral housing and other benefits described her:

Interested candidates should apply to Dr. Nicholas Baker:
