Job Title:

Postdoctoral Position to Study the Mechanisms of HIV-1 Persistance & Structure-Function Studies of Epigenetic Factors that Modulate Latency

Job Description:

A funded position is available immediately in the laboratory of Ganjam V. Kalpana, Ph.D., Professor of Genetics and Microbiology & Immunology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, to take part in path-breaking studies on HIV-1 persistence.  In collaboration with experts at Einstein, this project seeks to develop innovative single cell single molecule methods to investigate the size and characteristics of various HIV-1 reservoirs, determine the molecular mechanisms of latency and investigate the genetic and epigenetic modulators of latency.

Hard working, highly motivated candidates that have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or closely related fields are eligible for this position.  An applicant with experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, virology and other molecular biology and cell biology related techniques is preferred.  Applicants with additional qualifications of biochemical, genetic and CRISPR/Cas9 technology are also encouraged to apply.

The individual will have the opportunity to spearhead an exciting project that is designed to unravel the molecular mechanisms of latency using several state-of-the-art technologies and cell culture models, which can then be applied to clinical samples.  The individual will be responsible for conducting laboratory research and also will be able to interact with expert scientists and physicians at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as well as other institutions.

Interested candidates should email inquiries, CV, and the names of three referees to Ganjam Kalpana, Ph.D.,
