Job Title:
Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Pharmacology
Job Description:
Postdoctoral fellow positions are immediately available in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Our lab employs cellular, molecular, genetic, physiological and pharmacologic approaches to perform basic and translational research in studying: (1) mechanisms of aging and lifespan control at cellular and organism levels, and (2) pathogenesis and interventions of aging- and obesity-related metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and neurodegenerative diseases. We are particularly interested in understanding how aging process and metabolic diseases are mediated by neural/neuroendocrine dysregulations or by alterations of tissue stem cells at molecular and physiological levels. Research paradigms in our projects often involve neurosurgery, neuroanatomy and various molecular/physiological studies of different organs (such as liver, muscle, adipose and immune tissues) in genetic and pharmacologic models of mice and rats, and also relevant analyses and applications of tissue stem cells in these animal models. Some background of our research can be found in our recent publications: Zhang X, et al., Cell, 135 (1): 61-73, 2008; Purkayastha S, et al., Nature Medicine, 17 (7): 883-7, 2011; Zhang G, et al., Neuron, 69 (3): 523-35, 2011; Zhang H, et al., PLoS Biology, 9 (7): e1001112, 2011.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree or equivalent, and have independent research abilities with strong research interest, ambitious scientific goals, self motivation, and the ability to work effectively with a team. They will lead exciting, cutting-edge research projects that are supported by the NIH and other funding agencies. Successful applicants will be offered a generous salary and benefits, in addition to being a member of a high-quality research team and collaborative research environment. Applicants should email his/her CV, personal research statement, and the contact information of 3 references to:
