Established in 1983, the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry is among the first in the nation to develop a Residency Training Program in Geriatric Psychiatry. Collaboration with community based agencies and integration with the Training Program in Geriatric Medicine make the Division unique.
The Fellowship Training Program is ACGME accredited and has prepared 54 fellows for Board certification in the subspecialty of Geriatric Psychiatry since 1989. Upon graduation our trainees are highly sought after for leadership positions in academia and public health institutions.

This program differs from others in the New York metropolitan area as a result of its close ties to Montefiore’s Fellowship Program in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Certified Home Health Care Agency.
Trainees in Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Psychiatry share in case conferences, presentations, seminars and journal clubs.
