JUNE 14, 2017—(BRONX, NY)— Albert Einstein College of Medicine has named educator and infectious disease researcher Joshua D. Nosanchuk, M.D., senior associate dean for medical education. Dr. Nosanchuk, who currently serves as assistant dean for student affairs at Einstein, will assume his new position on July 1, 2017.
Joshua D. Nosanchuk, M.D.“Josh has demonstrated his collaborative spirit, keen leadership, and innovative and exacting approach to medical education since he was appointed assistant dean in 2012,” says Allen M. Spiegel, M.D., the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Einstein. “Respected among the faculty and admired by students, he is exceptionally well-positioned to take our medical education program to new heights of excellence.”
Dr. Nosanchuk will oversee Einstein’s medical education curriculum as it continues to evolve, building upon its academic strengths, most notably its basic science foundation, commitment to community-based programming and team-based learning, and rigorous clinical skills development. Infused with a humanistic approach to medicine, in which medical students are taught to advocate for their patients, Einstein’s medical training reflects the institution’s mission of promoting social justice and delivering quality care to all.
Dr. Nosanchuk will also direct the office of medical education, to which a number of other offices report. These include computer-based education, faculty development, education resources, and diversity enhancement.
“It’s a real honor and a privilege to take on this role at Einstein,” said Dr. Nosanchuk. “Our medical students distinguish themselves with their commitment to patient care, research, global health and engaging with our Bronx community. I look forward to working collaboratively with all our incredible educators, scientists and clinicians on these programs and to advance the overall educational missions of Einstein.”
