- Reuters features research by Richard Lipton, M.D., and his colleagues that finds a "longevity gene" prevents memory decline and Alzheimer's disease. The study, published in JAMA, found there was a 70 percent reduction in the risk of Alzheimer's in people with two copies of the favorable variant of the "longevity gene" compared to those with the more common variant.
