Neomi Ashwin Shah, MD, MPH

Dr. Shah has been a co-investigator of a large observational cohort study, "Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome as an independent risk factor for coronary events or death". The cohort consists of over 2,000 patients referred to the Yale sleep center for suspected sleep disordered breathing. The hypothesis is that patients with OSA have an increased risk of coronary artery disease events or death from any cause that is independent of other cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, smoking, alcohol use, age, BMI, etc. Preliminary data was presented at ATS 2007.
