Welcome to the Einstein-Cardozo Master of Science in Bioethics. Our degree program is a collaboration of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, and the Montefiore Medical Center. Our primary focus is in improving practice, scholarship and teaching with humane treatment and research in mind. Both our faculty and students are leaders in this quest.   • The Wall Street Journal features a letter to the editor from Dr. Tia Powell and colleagues challenging the views presented in a recent article, which questioned the current means used to determine brain death and the organ donation process in the U.S.
  • U.S. News & World Report (via HealthDay) interviews bioethicist Tia Powell about a new study that found advanced directives, also known as living wills, are very important in shaping care provided to patients, and furthermore reduce the costs of end-of-life, which accounts for more than a quarter of Medicare spending last year (October 2011).
