Einstein offers two medical options to faculty and staff—MonteCare EPO and MonteCare PPO—along with the option to waive coverage. While each option generally covers the same healthcare services, they differ in the amount of cost sharing (deductibles and co-insurance), premiums that you will pay for coverage and the providers you can use. Each plan uses the Empire BlueCard PPO and the Montefiore network. The MonteCare PPO gives you the flexibility to use out-of-network providers.
The prescription drug plan is administered by Express Scripts (ESI). You can use retail pharmacies in the ESI network, the ESI Home Delivery Service or the Montefiore Outpatient Pharmacy for your prescription drug needs.
- Prescription Drug Plan
The prescription drug plan is administered by Express Scripts Inc. (ESI) and is available to employees enrolled in the Montefiore health benefits. Even though Empire does not administer the pharmacy benefits, your prescription information is printed on your Empire health insurance card so that you do not need a separate ESI prescription card. Just present your Empire card at the pharmacy to fill your prescription.
The ESI Customer Service phone number is 800.631.7780 should you need assistance with any prescription issues.
Einstein offers three dental options to faculty and staff along with the option to waive dental coverage. The Cigna DPPO and Cigna Preventive & Diagnostic Plans utilize the Cigna Dental network, which includes the Montefiore department of dentistry. The Cigna DHMO utilizes the Cigna Dental Care HMO Network.
Spectera Vision Plan provides benefits for routine eye exams, eyeglasses or contact lenses. The plan offers a high and low option. If you opt for vision coverage, you will need to register on the spectera website, where you will be able to look up participanting optometrists and ophthalmologists and print a "vision card" to use at your vision care appointments.
- Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible spending accounts (FSA) allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare and/or dependent care expenses for you and your family members. The FSA plan is administered by Wageworks. The Medical FSA has a 2-½ month grace period which allows you to submit eligible expenses for an additional 2-½ months after the plan year ends.
- Commuter's Benefit
Among the Flexible Spending Accounts that you can set up through WageWorks are the Commuter Transit FSA and the Parking Reimbursement FSA. These accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible commuter transit and parking expenses that you incur traveling to and from your work site. (Please Note: If you are already paying for your Einstein parking with pre-tax dollars deducted directly from your paycheck, you cannot enroll in the parking program.) And using 511NY Rideshare, you can seek fellow commuters with whom you might carpool, as well as take advantage of other free commuter services offered through the program.
