Recently added to support the Division's treatment continuum, acupunture is utilized as an adjunctive therapy in conjunction with pharmacotherapy treatment, medically supervised ambulatory care, or medically supervised withdrawal / detoxification. Trained and licensed auricular acupuncturists apply well established protocols, enabling patients to cope with stress and cravings for addictive substances, and to engage in treatment or detoxification in a painless and non-threatening way. Combined with abstinence assessments, family and group therapy, medical and behavioral case management, and peer support groups, acupuncture is an exciting, innovative option in achieving treatment progress.
