christieChristie Brinkley, one of the most successful and recognizable models worldwide, served as honorary chair for Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s 2010 Family Day in the Hamptons, held on August 8. The proceeds from Family Day, which marked its 21st anniversary this year, will go to the Albert Einstein Cancer Center in support of women's health and cancers.

The Women's Division's new three-year fundraising initiative in support of research on women's health and cancers will support cutting-edge basic and translational research studies focusing on women's cancers — including gynecological and breast cancers. The studies are being conducted by leading scientists from the Albert Einstein Cancer Cancer, under the leadership of center director Dr. I. David Goldman.

In its previous campaign, the Women's Division raised $3 million to support Einstein's Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center(CERC). (Read More | View Related Videos)

Each year, CERC helps approximately 8,000 children from the New York metropolitan area and beyond. The Center also trains nearly 1,000 health professionals annually. One of the first and largest centers of its kind in the U.S., CERC is a nationally recognized model in its field. An award-winning video, "Hope for the Future," coproduced by Einstein board member Rita Rosen, focuses on the work of CERC, its director Dr. Robert Marion, and two of the young children who have benefited from the program and who mean so much to everyone at CERC.

A Ford model for over 30 years, Ms. Brinkley has served as honorary chair of Einstein's Family Day event in the Hamptons for nine years. Her image has graced more than 500 magazine covers, and she is an accomplished artist, writer, photographer, designer, actress, philanthropist, environmentalist, and political activist. In this interview, conducted by GoodNewsBroadcast.com at the 2009 Family Day, Christie discusses her ongoing relationship with Einstein, its groundbreaking research, and the enormous impact CERC has on children and families in the area.
