Study of the etiology of hearing impairment
In the laboratory of Dr. Bernice Morrow, we are investigating genetic causes of congenital sensorineural hearing impairment in the African American and Caribbean Hispanic populations in the Bronx. We are currently studying two of the more common genes implicated in hearing impairment, GJB2 and GJB6, and are exploring other genes that may be of more significance in this population.
Study of genomic variants in children with developmental delays, autism and/or multiple congenital anomalies
In the laboratory of Dr. Bernice Morrow, we are beginning to use microarray technology to examine the chromosomes of our patients in the Bronx with developmental disabilities and congenital disorders.
