Pediatric orthopaedic surgeon Norman Y. Otsuka, MD is a leading specialist in the areas of pediatric neuromuscular disorders, pediatric orthopaedic trauma and cerebral palsy. After earning his medical degree from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and serving his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Toronto, Dr. Otsuka completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Otsuka has held a number of high level positions, ranging from Chief, Pediatric Orthopaedic Service, University of California, San Francisco to Chief of Staff, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Los Angeles. He has also served as the Joseph E. Milgram Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, New York University and Director, Center for Children, NYU Langone Hospital for Joint Diseases until recently.
Additionally, Dr. Otsuka has held international and national positions in the field of pediatric orthopaedic surgery. He is the current Chair, Section on Orthopaedics, American Academy of Pediatrics and a Board Member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. In the past, Dr. Otsuka has served on the Board of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the United States Bone and Joint Decade/Initiative.
Dr. Otsuka sits on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Children’s Orthopaedics, Journal of Orthopaedic Surgical Advances, American Journal of Orthopaedics, and the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Part B. He also serves as a Reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Orthopaedics, and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research.
With numerous publications arising from his research in pediatric orthopaedics, Dr. Otsuka has been a Visiting Professor at Stanford University, Yale University, McMaster University, and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Omaha, NE.
