Professional Interests

Dr. Becky Hashim is an Attending Psychologist on the Behavioral Consultation Team at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center (CHAM) and is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. Dr. Hashim works on a multi-disciplinary medical team and applies evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), to youth with chronic medical illnesses who present with a variety of emotional and behavioral difficulties. She has recently published an adaptation of DBT to target medical non-adherence in an adolescent chronic kidney disease with plans to expand this protocol to other chronic illnesses in CHAM. In addition to her clinical and research work, Dr. Hashim also teaches and supervises mental health professionals and medical residents in training. Dr. Hashim has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, learning disorders, and personality disorders. Her versatile practice includes individual therapy, family therapy, parent training, and group therapy.  


Dr. Hashim earned her B.A. in psychology from theUniversityofPennsylvaniaand her doctoral degree in clinical and school psychology fromFairleighDickinsonUniversity. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Hashim has co-authored papers and book chapters about separation anxiety in children, DBT with multi-problem adolescents, and non-adherence among youth diagnosed with chronic medical illness. She has been regularly invited to present at local and national psychiatric and pediatric conferences on issues related to the treatment and management of chronic medical illness. She is an active member of the Association for Advancement for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the American Psychological Association, The Society for Behavioral Medicine, and the Society of Personality Assessment.
