Professional Interests

Dr. Flattau is a family physician with expertise in wound healing, management of complex chronic disease, and development of innovative health delivery systems. She is currently Director of the Wound Healing Program in Family and Social Medicine, and Medical Director of the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Flattau received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where she was awarded the Robert H. Ebert Primary Care Achievement Award. She completed her family medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Flattau has a master's degree in Health Promotion from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She was the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship in the study of public health and of a Pisacano leadership award from the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Flattau has been recognized for the innovative clinical systems she has built to treat patients with chronic wounds, and she is an Innovation Advisor at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Dr. Flattau's clinical practice encompasses primary care as well as the medical and surgical treatment of chronic wounds. Her academic interests include disease management strategies for chronic wounds, the role of psychosocial barriers to care in disease outcomes, and the leveraging of community outreach and primary care to improve health outcomes for wound patients. She speaks Spanish and French.
