transgenderSafe Zone is a program designed to increase the overall campus community’s understanding of and capacity to address issues faced by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) persons. It has been created to improve the institutional climate for student learning and personal and professional development.


 

Safe Zone Allies Program

Effective implementation of Safe Zone programs requires the identification, training and “visibility” of institutional allies advocating for the LGBT community. The Safe Zone LGBT Allies Training was specifically designed for Einstein community members to acquire the knowledge and skills to serve as an “Ally”. An Ally is a person who is works to end oppression through support of, or as an advocate for, an oppressed population.

Safe Zone Mentoring Program

Effective implementation of Safe Zone programs requires the identification, training and “visibility” of institutional persons including role models, allies, mentors, and champions advocating for the LGBT community. The Safe Zone LGBT Mentors Training was specifically designed for Einstein community members to acquire the knowledge and skills to serve as more effective LGBT “Mentors”. A Mentor is defined as an individual who facilitates personal and professional growth in an individual by sharing the knowledge and insights that have been learned through the years.
