Yes, visiting student must have taken and passed the USMLE Step I Exam. Students must submit a copy of exam results with their Elective Application.
If student is in Osteopathic Medical School will the COMLEX exam be acceptable?
Yes, visiting Osteopathic student must have taken and passed the COMLEX Exam. Student must submit a copy of exam results with their Elective Application.
If Step I of the USMLE was taken and their scores haven’t been received can they still apply?
No, visiting elective application will not be accepted if student have not taken and passed the USMLE Step I Exam.
Can you check to see if certain electives are available prior to sending in application?
No, we do not disclose availability.Elective are offered ona first come, first serve basis. Einstien student have first priority.
Do we provide housing?

Can they call the preceptor in charge of elective and get their approval to be accepted?
The Office of the Registrar determines final approval of all elective courses for visiting students. Students may contact the Course Leader for pre-approval. A confirmation must be forwarded via email from the Course Leader to the Office of the Registrar.
Can they take the elective even though their module dates do not coincide with ours?
Visiting Student are requireed to follow the set Einstein module dates. However, it is at the discretion of the course leaders.
How long does it take to process application?
15-30 days.
Can visiting students apply for electives that are offered at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center?
Students must contact these two site locations directly, as they have their own application process for visiting. Please contact them directly at the contact information that is listed on the Visiting Application website.
Can they take a two week elective here?
All electives are 4 weeks in duration.
How many electives can be taken?
A total of 3 elective can be taken, for a total of 12 weeks (same applys to International Exchange students)
