Below is a description of the incoming graduate students for the 2013 PhD class. 
 

 
 

Prior Research Experience

  • 100% have had a sustained research experience in a scientific laboratory
  • 56% have published a scientific paper in a peer reviewed journal
  • 65% have presented their work at a scientific meeting
  • 35% have also spent a summer in a research program
 
 

Education

  • 30 different colleges are represented by the incoming PhD Class. Students come from throughout the United States having attended large research universities, and small liberal arts colleges
  • Undergraduate majors: 
    Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, History, Medicine, Microbiology, Microbiology and Immunology, Molecular Biology, Psychology, Cell Biology & Neuroscience, Biochemistry & Cell Biology, Science‐Business
  • 68% have a Bachelor of Science degree; 32% have a Bachelor of Arts degree
  • 38% have a Master’s degree

 

 
 

Demographics

  • Demographics- 65% Female, 35% Male

  • Underrepresented minorities - 15% of individuals have self-identified as belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented

  • International students - students come to Einstein from countries around the world. This year's class includes students from Brazil, China, India, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden and Venezuela.
