Why I Chose Einstein

I want to pursue multidisciplinary research, and Einstein has all the technology and expertise I need, from mouse genetics to systems biology. And because I’m focusing on human genetics, human cohorts with well-characterized phenotypes are critical. Here I have direct access to all these human population samples through Einstein’s Longevity Genes Project, Aging Study, and Women’s Health Initiative.

What I Love About Working Here

The quality of the graduate students. Almost all have prior exposure to lab work from their undergraduate work. They have a clear understanding of what they are doing and the goals of their study.

What’s Most Exciting About Her Research at the Moment

Dr. Suh codeveloped a comprehensive gene SNP discovery platform, Two-Dimensional Gene Scanning (TDGS). Using TDGS, she and her colleagues have discovered SNP variants of genes known to be involved in aging-related phenotypes, including exceptional longevity.
