Why I Chose Einstein
I chose Einstein for the overall package. Not only is the research sensational but the campus life is fantastic. I knew I would be here for 5 years and not only did I need to be happy with the academic program but also my personal life and surroundings. The stipend and housing is comfortable and the people and location are great. I'm far enough outside Manhattan that I can focus on work without getting distracted but close enough that I can enjoy all NYC has to offer.
Favorite Story About My First Year at Einstein
A few of us were stuck in NYC for Thanksgiving as traveling for only a 3 day trip and flight prices made it a nightmare to head home. We decided to have a potluck Thanksgiving dinner in our apartments and it was the best dinner I could have asked for (Don't tell my mom!).
What I Like About Living in the Bronx
The Morris Park neighborhood is beautiful! All the food and bakeries you could ever want! A lot of the shopkeepers know me by name and always say that if I ever need anything to not hesitate to ask. Just knowing that your neighbors who you may not even know that well are willing to act neighborly is pretty great.
What's Surprised Me Most About Life at Einstein
The familiarity. I feel like I have known my new friends and labmates my whole life. We are incredibly close and have experienced so many things together. These are people I know that I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life
