Outside Opportunities for Research

  •   The Medical Research Fellows Program at Janelia Farm 
    • 1 year program
    • Offers students with an interest in neuronal networking and/or imaging at the cellular and molecular level an intense research training experience, living and working at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Janelia Farm Research Campus, in Ashburn, Virginia.
    • Students must submit a prescreening application by November 1, 2012 and comply with specific eligibility and application requirements.

  •     Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Research Fellows Program 
    • 1 year program
    • Basic, translational, or applied biomedical research may be conducted at Einstein or another institution.
    • Applications accepted online: August 25, 2012 through January 11, 2013 2:00 p.m. ET 
    • Award Notification: March 15, 2013
    • Acceptance Deadline: March 29, 2013
    • Fellowship begins: Summer 2013

  •    National Institutes of Health (NIH) Medical Research Scholars Program 
    • 12-month program; designed for students who have completed initial clinical rotations, but not exclusive to 
    • Mentored basic, translational, or clinical research projects on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD (or nearby)
    • Applications are accepted October 1, 2012 through January 15, 2013 
    • Applicants will be notified about being selected for an interview in mid-February, interviews occur at the NIH on Monday, March 4, 2013, and candidates are notified of acceptance on March 15, 2013 
    • Fellowships begin in July or August of each year
