The Einstein Enrichment Program (EEP) participates with the New York state funded Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP) through a consortium of nine medical colleges of the Associated Medical Schools of New York (AMSNY.) Its mission is to serve minority and/or economically disadvantaged high school students who have been historically underrepresented in the medical and scientific professions. To qualify, students must demonstrate high academic school performance, good school attendance, and an interest in pursuing careers in health, medicine and/or science. The program runs approximately fifteen weeks each fall and spring semesters, and students have the option of attending our five-week summer program. Students are accepted in ninth or tenth grade, and are expected to continue in the program through their senior year.
There are approximately 50 other STEP programs receiving funds from New York State and funding is renewed yearly by the governor and legislature. As a supplement to state funding, Einstein College demonstrates its commitment to the community by providing substantial additional funding.
