The Research Division aims to pursue and support research with the goal of providing excellent clinical care, enhancing educational opportunity and promoting scientific inquiry. The portfolio encompasses women’s health issues across the reproductive life span including:

  • primary care
  • fertility
  • prenatal care

  • optimizing birth outcomes
  • cancer prevention and treatment
  • menopausal issues

Our research portfolio includes a mix of basic science, translational and clinical research. There are approximately 80 clinical research trials to offer to patients throughout the tri-state area. The mix of trials includes NIH-sponsored cooperative group trials, investigator initiated clinical trials using innovative drugs and devices, as well as translational ‘bed-to-bench’ research where we are investigating new pathways that have considerable potential to improve diseases that affect women. We collaborate with other Montefiore / Einstein Departments and Centers in order to comprehensively approach solutions to complex diseases.

Honors and Awards

In 2016, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health was selected as one of the winners of the 2015 Roy M. Pitkin Award, which was established in 1998 to honor departments of obstetrics and gynecology that promote and demonstrate excellence in research. The winning article was the product of outstanding collaboration amongst the housestaff, fellows and faculty of the Department.
