The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women's Health

Administration

Obviously the administrative and fiscal demands of coping with such a large number of faculty members, activities and programs are enormous. Dr. Merkatz's role is facilitated by a dedicated administrative staff which has been assembled by Adrienne S Kapel, Director of Business Affairs and Senior Administrator for the department. The range of administrative expertise bridges faculty licensure, immigration requirements, postgraduate seminars, audiovisual support, financial management, program development, resource allocation, and numerous other areas needed for a modern successful department.

Administrative offices of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women's Health are located in the Belfer Educational Center, Room 501/502, at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Departmental Newsletters

Helping alert the large faculty, staff and alumni about departmental activities and continuing medical education opportunities is the departmental newsletter CONCEPTIONS, begun in 1991 by Drs. Margaret Comerford Freda and Wayne Cohen. The newsletter helps the faculty and staff of the department who work in multiple locations to understand the depth and breadth of the mission and accomplishments of the department in all the areas of its sphere of influence. It chronicles important professional contributions of faculty and staff, highlights specific divisional activities, grants and programs, and details the research interests, presentations and publications of faculty. This newsletter serves as a unifying force for departmental faculty and staff in their multiple roles and responsibilities who might otherwise be unaware of important occurrences in the department.
