In line with the educational mission of the Einstein Medical School and Montefiore Medical Center, the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has been leading the effort in Global Women’s Health. The residents have been front and center in this effort, with residents being afforded the opportunity to chose our Global Health Track in PGY2 and take elective rotations in resource poor countries. The primary efforts have been in the Sub-Saharan regions in Africa.
The Global Heath teams consist of at least one of our dedicated Einstein Global Health attending physicians, one resident and one medical student. These teams make regular trips to these 3 regions. The focus of these trips are on providing medical services, delivering health education, and conducting research. Residents participating in these electives have the opportunity to join in all of these efforts.
