Linnea Capps, MD, MPH
Dr. Linnea Capps is Co-Director of the Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine Residency Program at Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center.

A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, Dr. Capps began her career as a National Health Service Corps physician in the Harlem Primary Care Network. She subsequently received a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University. She worked as a volunteer in community health in El Salvador for two years and then became the medical director of the Ambulatory Care Network Corporation of the Presbyterian Hospital and joined the faculty of Columbia University.

Dr. Capps later returned to Harlem Hospital where she initially worked as part of the Harlem AIDS Treatment Group, a unit of the Community Program for Clinical Research in AIDS. She became the chief of the Division of General Medicine, then Associate Director of the Department of Medicine and the Residency Program Director. In addition, she was the coordinator of the third-year medicine clerkship for Columbia students at Harlem.

Dr. Capps completed the Montefiore/Einstein/NYU Certificate Program in Bioethics and Medical Humanities in 2004 and served as chair of the Ethics Committee of Harlem Hospital. She has continued working in global health, volunteering in El Salvador, Mexico and Uganda. She is currently the president of Doctors for Global Health. Her academic interests include global health, health and human rights and teaching clinical skills and clinical reasoning.
