Robert Sidlow, MD, MBA
The Department of Medicine extends sincerest gratitude to Robert Sidlow, M.D., M.B.A., Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine (General Internal Medicine) and Assistant Professor of Neurology, for his extraordinary service as Interim Chair at Jacobi Medical Center/NCB.
"Rob and I have had a productive and collegial working relationship during the interim period, and he has done a great job of stabilizing and further improving the Department following Dr. Stephan Kamholz's departure to Maimonides," said Dr. Victor Schuster, Chairman of the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Sidlow joined the Department of Medicine at Jacobi as a clinician educator in the Division of General Internal Medicine in 1998, and since 2003 he has served as the Deputy Chief
Medical Officer for the North Bronx Healthcare
Network (Jacobi Medical Center and North Central
Bronx Hospital.) Deeply committed to hands-on
and patient-centered clinical care, he
established the Palliative Medicine service in
2007 and has served as its director since then.
In 2008, he assumed responsibility as Vice
Chairman for the Department of Medicine, a role
in which he helped develop a wide variety of
patient safety and clinical/system/quality
improvement efforts which have been central to
the Jacobi Medical Center enterprise.
Beginning in May 2013, Dr. Sidlow was
appointed as Interim Chairman of Medicine. He
has served as Chair for the Committee on
Appointments and Promotions at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine, and he currently
is a member of Einstein’s Institutional Review
Board. Dr. Sidlow is the proud recipient of the
Leo Davidoff Award and Teacher of the Year
Award, and he is a devoted educator, mentor, and
role model for housestaff and medical students
in the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Sidlow is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the
American College of Physicians. He was recently
nominated and ratified to serve on the
subspecialty Board of Directors of the American
Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Sidlow completed his undergraduate as a
Max Stern Scholar at Yeshiva University in New
York, and in 1995 earned his medical degree at
Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He
completed a residency in Internal Medicine at
Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and later
earned a M.B.A. from the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst.
Dr. Robert Faillace has been selected as the new Chair of Medicine, and will assume the position in
April 2014 from Dr. Robert Sidlow, who has
served as Interim Chair since May
