Conigliaro Selected to be New Residency Program Director


Dr. Rosemarie Conigliaro
The Einstein/Montefiore Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the recruitment of Rosemarie Conigliaro, M.D. as Internal Medicine Residency Program Director effective July 1, 2012.

Dr. Conigliaro is currently Professor of Medicine and Senior Assistant Dean for Curriculum at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington. She obtained her undergraduate degree in chemistry from NYU, and her M.D. from SUNY Syracuse. She was an internal medicine house officer at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center (Jacobi) under Dr. Milford Fulop. Thereafter, she joined the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh College of Medicine, where she became the Director of both the Pharmaceutical Care Clinic and of the Medical Resident University Based Clinic.

From 2003 to 2005, Dr. Conigliaro was Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She received the Outstanding Teaching Attending Award from the Department of Medicine Interns of Pittsburgh for 2004-2005. In 2005, she re-located to the University of Kentucky, where she was Senior Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine residency program. Since 2009, she has been Senior Assistant Dean for Curriculum at Kentucky, and was promoted to Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine in 2010.

Dr. Conigliaro has been a Fellow of the American College of Physicians since 2007. She has made presentations at the national Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine ("APDIM") meetings, including "Incorporating Reflection into Residency Training" and "The Assessment and Remediation of Professionalism Concerns".

She has been active in clinical teaching at all levels, including medical students, house staff, attendings, grand rounds, inpatient service, introduction to physical diagnosis, clinic precepting, curriculum development, Observed Structured Clinical Examination, Medicine Ethics & Society Course, Doctor-Patient Relationship Course, Advanced Interviewing Techniques, Professionalism Curriculum, and many others.

For the Society of General Internal Medicine's 2011 meeting, she was Co-Chair of the Innovations in Medical Education Committee, and has been on the NBME Test Material Development Committee, USLME Step 3 Chronic Illness & Ongoing Conditions.

Dr. Conigliaro was selected through extensive review by a search committee chaired by Dr. Julia Arnsten, Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine. Other committee members were Drs. Hillary Kunins, Matthew Berger, Martin Surks, Philip Lief, William Southern, Jason Korcak, and Joshua Nosanchuk.
