Dr. Hannele Yki-Järvinen's research interests include the causes and consequences of insulin resistance in humans, the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and nonalcoholic
fatty liver disease.
She has published 245 original articles in English, 70 reviews, textbook chapters and other articles in English, and has given over 300 invited lectures in 44 countries.
Dr. Yki-Järvinen has won international awards for her research, including the G. B. Morgagni Young Investigator Award, Padova, Italy (1993); the 28th Minkowski Award, European Association for the Study of Diabetes, Istanbul, Turkey (1993); the Anders Jahre Pris, University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway (1995); and the Novartis Award in Diabetes for excellence in patient-oriented research, San Diego, USA (1999).
