Dr. Hannah Lipman is a geriatrician-cardiologist-bioethicist who joined Montefiore in July 2006 and initially undertook a busy clinical schedule seeing patients in geriatrics and cardiology.

Dr. Lipman honed her skills in ethics education after receiving a HRSA-funded Geriatric Academic Career Award entitled "Teaching Practical Bioethics to Learners from Multiple Disciplines: Geriatrics Informed Curricula in Surrogate Decision Making and Bioethics Consultation”.

In June 2009, Dr. Lipman became the Associate Director of the Montefiore-Einstein Center for Bioethics and Chief of the Bioethics Consultation Service. In this role, she teaches ethics throughout the medical center and in the first and second year medical school bioethics courses. She is the co-chair of the system-wide work group charged with implementing the Family Health Care Decisions Act.

Currently Assistant Professor of Medicine, Dr. Lipman completed her medical education at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and her internal medicine residency at University of Michigan Health System. Her cardiology fellowship was at Tufts New England Medical Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed the integrated Geriatrics and Palliative Care fellowship at Mount Sinai as well. She is a graduate of the Montefiore-Einstein Certificate Program in Bioethics and Medical Humanities.
