Part I: Department of Medicine Faculty Meeting
Victor L. Schuster, MD, Chairman, Department of Medicine
Dr. Schuster will give an update of various departmental developments, including chief searches, and an important upcoming research retreat by Einstein at which the Department will be represented.
Part II: Documentation of Teaching Supervision and Clinical Care
Maria Matzoros, CPC, CHC, Associate Vice President, Compliance, Montefiore Medical Center
Each attending physician who involves residents in the care of patients and who renders a bill for these services is mandated to attend a training session covering the guidelines for teaching physicians at least every two years.
Unless they have documented attendance at such a session within the past two years, attending physicians must attend this session and sign the forms that they have done so.
Objectives
After attending this activity, participants will be able to:
- Understand the Medicare rules for supervision of residents
- Review the documentation requirements supporting teaching and presence
- Ensure compliance with the teaching physician regulations
Accreditation
Albert Einstein College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 credit towards the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
Albert Einstein College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
