Over summer 2008 Montefiore Medical Center acquired Our Lady of Mercy hospital, now the North Division of Montefiore. As part of that takeover, several care centers and associated Vice Presidents have been realigned.
Beverly Michael, formerly the Vice President of Clinical Services at Montefiore, has taken on the new challenge of organizing and overseeing a new cancer care center. Beverly left the Department in excellent shape with respect to its relationship with the hospital and the Acute Care Division, using her keen intelligence, organization and political skills, and extraordinary integrity to guide the Department through many changes and substantial growth.
In the transition, during a formal external search for Beverly's successor, Michael Prilutsky, Vice President of Montefiore's Heart Center will function as Medicine's Interim Vice President. Michael has worked with the Department of Medicine on many Cardiology and Heart Center issues since he came to Montefiore in late summer 2007, and we look forward to working with him going forward.
