In memory of Diane Edelstein, the Brownlee laboratory reports that a Japanese maple tree has been planted and a bronze plaque inscribed in her honor. The memorial site is located in the back of the Forchheimer Building, on the right of the path that goes to the Mazer building.

Diane Edelstein, a senior research assistant in Endocrinology, died today after a long struggle with cancer.
Edelstein was employed at Einstein for 42 years. For the past nearly twenty years she worked with Michael Brownlee on various aspects of diabetic vascular damage, including the role of nitric oxide synthase, advanced glycation end products, and protection by aminoguanidine.
