Swati Goel, MB, BS
Assistant Professor
Department of Medicine (Hematology)
Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Montefiore Medical Center

Dr. Swati Goel, a new faculty addition to the Einstein/Montefiore Division of Hematology, joined the Division as an Assistant Professor in July 2013. Her clinical and research focus is on myeloproliferative neoplasms. Her goal is to start a specialized myeloproliferative neoplasm clinic and open clinical trials in the same field. She is currently involved in initiating two clinical trials in myelofibrosis. She is also in the process of banking tissue specimens with the help of basic scientists to promote translational research in this field.

Dr. Goel completed her medical education at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, and joined the Internal Medicine Residency at the Albert Einstein Jacobi Medical Center in 2007. As a resident, she was involved in research on the novel derivatives of ATRA in Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia under the guidance of Dr. Amit Verma.

As a Hematology-Oncology fellow at NYU School of Medicine in 2010, Dr. Goel investigated the study of epigenetics in Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma with the help of both animal mouse models and human tissue. She gave an oral presentation on this topic at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting in December 2012.

After attending this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the pathophysiology of the MPNs on the cellular level
  2. Discuss the new mutations discovered in this field in the last 10 years
  3. Understand advances in the treatment strategies in myeloproliferative neoplasms

Repeated at 12:15 pm, Cherkasky Auditorium, Montefiore Medical Center.
