Dr. Anna Broder’s research focuses on cardiovascular and renal manifestations in systemic lupus and in antiphospholipid syndrome. Her work has been recognized with the Arthritis Foundation Scientist Development Award, the Empire State Clinical Research Investigator Award, and the Early Career Reviewer Award by the NIH Center for Scientific Review. She is also a co-investigator for the Consortium of Rheumatology Researchers of North America, Inc. (CORRONA) registry that collects long-term data about patients with rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis.
Dr. Broder is currently an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2004. She joined the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Division of Rheumatology after she completed her Internal Medicine Residency and her Rheumatology Fellowship at Montefiore in 2009. Dr. Broder has also received a MS in Clinical Research Methods from the Einstein Clinical Research Training Program in 2010.
After attending this activity, participants will be able to:
- Understand definitions, epidemiology, and clinical course of lupus nephritis
- Define the spectrum of morbidity and mortality in lupus-related end stage renal disease
- Gain insight into how lupus-specific issues, such as disease activity and antiphospholipid antibodies, may affect outcomes in dialysis and renal transplantation
