Dr. Amanda Raff's current research concerns the prevalence of pulmonary
hypertension in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, the use of
cinacalcet in the prevention of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in
ESRD patients, vitamin D repletion in chronic kidney disease (CKD)
patients, accumulation of uremic toxins in hemodialysis patients, and
treatment of acidosis in CKD patients.
Dr. Raff is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Clinician Educator
track. She has been the Course Director for the Einstein first year medical
student Renal System Course since July 2007 and is the East Campus
Curriculum Coordinator for the Nephrology Fellowship Program. She has been
recognized for her teaching excellence at Einstein with the Samuel M. Rosen
Outstanding Teacher Award and membership in the Leo M. Davidoff Society.
With a large clinical practice of CKD and ESRD patients, Dr. Raff is
active in the dialysis community serving as a member of the Medical Review
Board of IPRO, the organization that manages Network 2 (the state of NY)
for CMS.
Dr. Raff received a bachelor's degree in biology from Indiana University
and a MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed a
residency in Internal Medicine at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital and a chief
resident year at NYU Downtown Hospital. She returned to Einstein/Montefiore
for a Nephrology Fellowship and joined the Einstein Division of Nephrology
faculty in 2004.
Accreditation: Albert Einstein College of Medicine designates this
educational activity for a maximum of 1 credit towards the AMA Physician's
Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that
he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
