Each attending physician who involves residents in the care of patients and who renders a bill for these services is mandated to attend a training session covering the guidelines for teaching physicians at least every two years.

Unless they have documented attendance at such a session within the past two years, attending physicians must attend this session and sign the forms that they have done so.

Objectives - After attending this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the Medicare rules for supervision of residents
  2. Review the documentation requirements supporting teaching and presence
  3. Ensure compliance with the teaching physician regulations

Accreditation: Albert Einstein College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
