Dr. Jorde graduated from the Freie Universitaet Hamburg Medical School, Germany in 1991 and subsequently completed clinical training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He joined the heart failure and transplant faculty of the Center for Advanced Care at Columbia University in 1999. From 2003 to 2007, he directed the heart failure program at New York University. He returned to Columbia in 2007 as medical director of the mechanical circulatory support program and rose to the rank of Professor of Medicine. In 2014, he was appointed Section Chief for Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory as well as Vice Chief of Cardiology Support at Einstein Montefiore.

Dr. Jorde's academic record is notable for research funding from the National Institutes of Health (K23 both as recipient and mentor/R01) and the American Heart Association, as well as publication of over 100 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Objectives - After attending this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Review current state of medical advanced heart failure therapy
  2. Review current state of mechanical circulatory support
