Professional Interests

Dr. Claudene George began her career by obtaining a degree in pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She worked as a pharmacist for about 2 years before she entered medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Boston University Medical Center, and then did a two-year Geriatrics Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Dr. George came to Einstein/Montefiore in 2007 as a Geriatric Hospitalist and Clinician Educator. She was awarded a grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services for the development of curriculum in the area of geriatric pharmacology and medication management. With this Geriatric Academic Career Award (GACA), she developed several core lectures, seminars, and publications on such topics as polypharmacy, the use of psychotropic drugs, medication management in older adults, and pain management.

Dr. George's primary interest is in clinical care and education in geriatrics. with special interest in polypharmacy and drug interactions. She is the Geriatric Student Clerkship Director and serves on several committees at Montefiore, including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee.
