The Einstein-Montefiore Nephrology Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program is traditionally 2 years in duration, but we offer a third year to those fellows who aspire to an academic career in nephrology.
While the ABIM and ACGME require only two years of specialty training in nephrology for Board Certification, we believe that preparation for a durable career requires more than 2 years. However, we welcome individuals of all aspirations, including those who desire a purely clinical career as a practitioner or clinician-educator. For those individuals, we offer a 2-year training track that includes an emphasis on outpatient consultative nephrology and renal failure care, and also includes a mandatory block or research time, either clinical or basic science research, with an assigned mentor.
These individuals have an option to pursue an additional year of preparation as funds permit and are encouraged to do so.
